About the book: Poetry and theatre, sound and vision, sugar scrubbing, tattoo needles, hot oil and big fat veneers: all of this combines into a world shaped like a do(UGH)nut, desperately gripping its inhabitants with severe weather, shorter days, and weighty gravity to compensate for the drag of The Hole. This world, this Doughnut World, poses unique opportunities and challenges for its inhabitants, including: planetary transplant Hucklebaby, CRAVAT the sentient necktie, and a transmasc seahorse collective that only speaks Emily Dickinson. Make sure to grab a cruller, a lover, and a pencil, and follow The Artist's transmissions through the ins and outs of this yeasty world. Don't forget, though: if you pussybow, you have to start all over again.
Praise for THE DOUGHNUT WORLD
"Consumption, desire, and queerness are explored through campy and 'hippodrome haunting' performances and iconography in Jillian A. Fantin’s THE DOUGHNUT WORLD. Each sequence is 'pearlgnashed' in PrEP and swallowed by drag, occasionally with the underpinnings of the absurdity of American politics. This collection is an unabashedly queerer fever dream of the last scene in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, with poems undulating wordsounds that are sensory heaven on the tongue. A must-read to be paired with [insertgenderhere]dinner snacks and a curated playlist with songs by Kesha, SOPHIE, David Bowie, Queen, and Chappell Roan." —tommy wyatt blake, author of TASEREDGED (watch out!) (Querencia Press) and So, Who’s Courage? (Bullshit Lit)
“God is a sad clown and THE DOUGHNUT WORLD is His direct address to Jillian A. Fantin. Fantin’s language is full of whimsy, Luther's art fabulous in its color. Read this book if you want to feel weird in a really great way.” —Veronica Bennett, EIC of Bullshit Lit
